The $20 Liberty is grossly underpriced even considering today=s low spot gold price. Last year, this same coin had a wholesale price of $790, as reported in the Coin Dealer dated February 16, 1996, and the ten year high was more than twice that price. The strategy in purchasing this coin is to trade it for the $20 Liberty MS61 or the $20 Saint Gauden MS61 when the price of gold goes up. By using this strategy in 1992, I was able to trade the higher grade coins for MS61s and my clients ended up with numismatic, uncirculated gold coins at a cost of $416 per $20 Liberty and/or $20 St. Gauden, MS61 Grade. Even at today's prices, these clients have profited.
I believe that the current prices of the $20 Liberty MS63 and the $20 St. Gauden MS64 offer an even better opportunity than in 1992. At the above prices, financial insurance is on sale.
