About the Author:
Boye Lafayette De Mente has been intimately involved with China, Japan, Korea and Mexico since the late 1940's as a member of a U.S. intelligence agency, student, journalist, editor, consultant and author. He is a graduate of Jochi University, Tokyo, and the American Graduate School of International Management in Glendale, Arizona, USA (Thunderbird). He is the author of more than 40 books, including the first books ever on the Japanese way of doing business (Japanese Etiquette and Ethics in Business, 1959, and How to do Business With the Japanese, 1961). De Mente was the first to introduce the now common Japanese terms wa, nemawashi, tatemae-honne and ringi seido to the Western business world. He has taught at Thunderbird and is a regular guest lecturer.
