Southwest Trails Blankets

In the tradition of Indian Trade Blankets, the Southwest Trails Blankets highlight the colors of the Southwest and celebrate the diversity of cultures, myths and traditions that is our common ancestry. Designed by Native American artist, Ramona Sakiestewa, this series of six Pendleton blankets commemorates the heritage of American Southwest trails. The elements in each blanket reflect the culture and tradition of the Southwest particular to the individual trail.

Santa Fe Trail -- combines classic pueblo elements from an early Pendleton design and honors the tradition of trade routes in the American west. Chihuahua Trail -- honoring the Hispanic heritage of the Camino Real, based on a Saltillo serape with concentric diamonds and 7 Vallero stars.
Chaco Trail -- water clan symbols of clouds and rain commemorate the prehistoric villages of the Anasazi and the web of trails that connected them. Hopi Trail -- features a central bird and bat motif taken from 14th century Sikyatki pottery of this pueblo tribe.
Navajo Trail -- inspired by Transitional eyedazzlers and paying tribute to the Navajo as weaver. Iron Horse Trail -- exalts Navajo Germantown pictorial weavings of the 1880's and commemorates the advent of the railroad in America.
