While the arts represent about 25% of Santa Fe's overall economy, many artists and arts organizations face consistent survival struggles. (For more information on the economic impact of arts see the Publications Order Form.)
In addition to promoting professional opportunities for artists through funding contracts, Art in Public Places and The Santa Fe Directory of the Arts, the SFAC works with the business community, the Santa Fe Convention and Visitors Bureau and the City's Economic Development Planner to encourage economic development in and through the arts.
The Santa Fe Directory of the Arts is a biannually published guide listing artists of all disciplines, arts businesses and not-for-profit arts organizations in Santa Fe County.
The directory lists 1000 individual artists and an additional 600 arts business and not-for-profit organizations. Included are producers and sellers of all types of visual arts, crafts, design arts, performing arts, literature, media arts and folk arts.
This edition also includes a resource list for artists, general calendar of annual arts events and fax numbers and e-mail addresses with individual listings. Display advertisements are also included in this edition.
The 1996/97 Directory of the Arts database will be used by the Arts Commission to notify local artists about opportunities to participate in the Arts in Public Places Program. The cost of the directory is $9.95 and it can be ordered through the Publications Order Form.
