Established in 1992, New Mexico Guides Association (NMGA) is a nonprofit organization for professional tour guides in New Mexico. NMGA's certification process establishes competency in knowledge of history, art, culture, natural history, and architecture of the region -- as well as tour management skills.
NMGA was recognized for outstanding achievement in 1997 in representing the traditions and culture of Santa Fe & New Mexico, by receiving one of the first Friends of Cultural Tourism Awards given by the Mayor of Santa Fe and the Santa Fe Convention and Visitors Bureau.
